Today we add another new product to our 2022+ Honda Civic (11th generation) catalog in the form of a high-performance downpipe. For those Civic trims equipped with the turbo 1.5L engine, this will be a mod you will want to put early on your to-do list because of the easy power you can make with just under 2 hours of wrench time. This downpipe is a direct replacement for the restrictive OEM unit (check out our first blog for details) and is a great way to reduce back-pressure in the exhaust and increase both horsepower and torque.

Read along as we take a quick dive into this downpipe and run over the features that make this a great early mod to increase the performance of your turbo Honda.

Starting from the top we CAD designed an 80mm bellmouth opening to promote flow and get exhaust gases out of the turbocharger more quickly. The best way to promote flow out of the turbo is to have as big of a pressure drop across the turbo and downpipe as possible. By having a very large cavity after the turbo we increase that delta which helps increase spool and promote flow.

Next, all those smelly gases pass through a 3” 200 cell catalytic converter to remove those harmful fumes from the combustion process. We are all for performance and power gains, but with modern catalysts, we need not send all the pollutants out unfiltered, even when racing.

Finishing the downpipe off is a smooth cat transition that goes from 76mm to 63.5mm so that the downpipe bolts straight up to the OEM front pipe and our future upgraded front pipe. We also supply a nifty set of stainless steel brackets to replace the OEM ones. These are super important for installation as they support the weight of the downpipe. If you see another aftermarket offering without these brackets take a hard pass because you are going to pay for it later with broken welds. Toss in retention of all the OEM heat shields and precision TIG welds all around and you get a part that carries our limited lifetime warranty.
