27WON Launches Front-pipe Back Exhaust System for the 10th generation Honda Accord
Today we are happy to share with you the launch of our 27WON exhaust system for the 2018 to 2022 Honda Accord. If you’ve followed the progression of this release in parts 1 and 2, you’ll know this exhaust system is a front-pipe back system that can attach to both your OEM front pipe and a larger aftermarket performance front pipe. Our Accord X kit is designed to fit all the 2.0L AccordX and most of the 1.5L trims. This system comes with larger 2.75-inch piping and a nice bonus to set off the look of your car. More on that later!
Starting at the front pipe, you’ll notice we ditched the large and bulky one-piece design found from Honda. It's heavy with some flat spots and uses small 2” piping in places. Gone are the boring standard-grade steel and instead, T304 Stainless Steel is used with a custom finish. This looks way better and won’t rust over time. Next, we upped the piping from 2.0” to 2.75” to give the engine more room to breathe. Going larger on the exhaust piping diameter reduces back pressure and increases performance. This is especially helpful because both Accord engine configurations are turbocharged. A turbocharger car wants to expel the exhaust gasses as fast as possible.
Sealing the exhaust up is our tri-bolt gaskets and stainless steel hardware. We use the tri bolt flanges so that your exhaust system will not leak during its time on the road. Slip joints are cheap and easy to make but are prone to leaking. 2-bolt flanges are a little bit better but can warp. Our 3x bolt design mimics the OEM FP flange connection for the best possible seal. Secure it all up with hardware that will not rust and you have a system that will truly last the life of the vehicle.
Ok, ok what about the sound? How do you keep the drone to a minimum while having a nice deep tone? We opted to give the “resonance” tuning job to a set of dual chamber mufflers, one at each corner of the dual exit exhaust out back. This two-phase system uses an expansion chamber resonator and an absorption resonator to remove both high and low frequencies while allowing exhaust gasses to pass straight through! What this means for the driver is a drone-free crisp and clean deep tone all through the RPM range. These mufflers are then accentuated by a set of custom logo plates, one on each end to let everyone know you’re not rocking the rest, you’re rocking the best.
We finished off the system with the best part. All the other aftermarket systems out there either keep the real tips hidden like the OEM exhaust system and retain the factory metal shrouds or go massive quad-tip design. That former design kind of defeats the point of an aftermarket exhaust! Sure the tone is changed but you get zero points for style. The quad-tip design, while popular, felt like it needed to be modernized as well. The 27WON system comes with custom slant-cut oval tips and a pair of high-temp fiberglass shrouds. This setup honors the design lines of the AccordX perfectly. Notice how the tip matches the shape of the bumper in the image above.
Welcome to the most premium exhaust system, you are going to find for the 10th-generation Honda Accord. We can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say about it. Head over to the product page and order yours today.
