CivicX Front Strut Tower Brace - Brake Brace Function Design Pt 4

The REDEFINE aspects of our performance Front Strut Tower Bar (FSTB) don’t stop at our solid one-piece construction and gusset plate design. We will soon offer an aluminum brake brace upgrade for the 27WON FSTB. To fully appreciate the brake brace we are going to explore what it is, what it does, and why you want this upgrade.

The 27WON CivicX brake brace is a machined billet aluminum piece with a threaded foot that bolts directly to our strut bar. The brace snugly fits between the anchor point on the bar and then up against your brake master cylinder to prevent excess movement of the master cylinder. Yeah, this is a thing!

Brake Brace installed on bar

Your Honda’s brake master cylinder is attached to your brake master booster and is designed to multiply the pressure your foot generates on the pedal and help the brake fluid get to the calipers and pistons. The unit as a whole is secured to the firewall of your car, which is a thin piece of metal that separates you in the cabin from the engine bay. When you push really hard on your brake pedal (think racing or emergency braking) the firewall can flex. This allows the master cylinder to move resulting in poor pedal feedback and slower response. This is definitely unwanted and uninspiring coming from your brakes.

The 27WON brake brace acts to eliminate that unwanted flex in your braking system. Being firmly attached to the strut tower bar means it’s mounted rigidly to the strut towers and thus movement limited. You’ll feel safer and also notice a big increase in pedal feel.

This piece will be available in January as both a standalone item for those who already got a FSTB as well as an add-on when you buy a new FSTB. Follow us on Instagram and be one of the first to learn when it drops.

Thanks for tuning in.
