All Honda engines from the early ’90s came equipped from the factory with a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor or (MAP) sensors for short. This important engine sensor sends valuable information to the ECU for tuning and fuel corrections. We won’t dive into the specifics here but if you want to understand how this sensor works be sure and read our design blog part 1 here.
The 27WON 4-bar MAP sensor has a few features that make it stand above the rest. First is the unique one-piece design. We went with this style because it’s more robust. No worries about it splitting apart if you drop it by mistake. Second is the fact that we offer the sensors in singles and pairs (at a discount). The L15 engine requires two MAP sensors. We know it might not be obvious to most that the 10th gens take two so we took the guesswork out of it. For all the older models you can buy the single sensor. Lastly, it's orange and it looks awesome. This is a clean and easy way to add some flare to your engine bay.
How do you know if this is an upgrade that you need? Simple. It boils down to how much boost you will run. If you never intend to go past 27psi you can skip this upgrade, unless perhaps your OE sensor is shot. If you have or plan to upgrade to a turbo that will run over 28psi, like the W2 then you will need this sensor(s) to get your ECU a good boost signal. Please note that aftermarket engine management software (like Hondata or KTuner) will be needed to use any 4-bar MAP sensor.
