11th Gen Civic & 5th Gen Integra Intake System Design Blog Pt 3.

What is up Honda fam, Vincent here back with you for part 3 of our design blog for the 27WON 11th Gen Civic/5th Gen Integra cold air intake system.

In part 2 of our last design blog, we shared with you all the pro’s and con’s of a Cold Air Intake (CAI) vs a Short Ram Intake (SRI) and why you may want one or the other. Then not too much later after that we dropped a banger for you guys in the form of the release of a Short Ram Intake upgrade for the 11th gen Civic and 5th Gen Integra. In case you missed that release you can check out the details posted here. SRI is a great first starter mod for anyone stepping into the aftermarket performance game. It’s a gateway mod.

In this blog, we are shifting our focus back on our CAI development. While we’ve been working on this intake for more than a year, we’ve shared very few details to this point. There’s good reason for that, we promise! We’ve been innovating like crazy and overcoming a host of challenges in getting our design to market.

The next generation CAI from us is going to be unlike anything you have seen on the market before.

What you see above is one of the design iterations for our CAI. We have a unique air inlet and air box design along with a very cool and great looking shroud/cover. Of course, it’s also got a billet MAF, various silicone, an air filter, brackets, and various hardware. It’s a complete and sealed system that when paired with our available air intake snorkel and yet to be released Turbo Inlet Pipe will give you a fully sealed system for the coolest and most dense air possible for your ride.

I have said it before and it’s worth repeating, air is lazy. It will take the path of least resistance. We have to guide it and tell it where to go. After funneling through the air ducting behind the grill, the nice cool outside dense air will go directly into our airbox inlet. We have taken the OEM inlet and smoothed it out and widened it so that we can take full advantage of the snorkel. Every angle of the airbox inlet has been looked at to make it as big as it can be while still bolting to the OEM pick up points.

Once air goes through the inlet and enters the airbox the cold air does some really cool stuff. I am not going to tell you just yet what happens inside the airbox, but I will say that we have a very trick way of maximizing air filter surface area.

OK, OK. I’ll give you a little preview below, but you’ll have to stay tuned to our next blog for the science behind it.

We are close to finishing our prototype phase and this project should move pretty fast from here on out. We are racking up the miles on prototypes to make sure these parts perform exactly how we designed them too.

I’ll leave you with a sneak peak of a prototype below.

Till next time
